What Is

Home of Our Own (HOOO) Fund?

The WSFC helps hundreds, and hopefully in the future thousands of people in the community each week by providing a safe, clean and pleasant place for Recovery meetings as well as events. It has operating funds that are managed and maintained for everyday expenses as well as a long term saving fund called the "Home of Our Own" (HOOO) fund.

The purpose of the HOOO fund is to allow the WSFC to purchase a building or facility rather than lease in order to reduce monthly operating costs, establish the club as a permanent part of the Naperville community, and expand as needed. Since the WSFC is a Non-Profit 501(c) organization, this is the most cost effective and tax friendly way to operate - eliminating the cost of taxes that are built into rental/lease expenses. A lease can be lost, or the building the lease is in can be sold ending the lease. To be a permanent part of the Naperville community, having its own building protects the WSFC from losing the lease and being forced to move. Full kitchen, member lounge, more meeting rooms and other needs are possible to fulfill in an owned building. Many more people can be helped with the facilities a HOOO will provide.

Clubs nationally follow the path of conversation from temporary rental/lease to an ownership model.

Many members give above and beyond the meeting basket and membership dues to help accumulate enough in the fund to make the HOOO a reality. It will take more years to achieve, but the WSFC is well on the way toward fulfilling the goal.

A tax deductible donation can be made to the HOOO fund. There are many ways to give, including corporate matching funds, naming the WSFC as a recipient in your will, stocks and bonds, as well as gifts designated to the HOOO fund via cash, check, or on-line using PayPal with description specifying For HOOO.
